Project Objectives

The project Equity Artificial Intelligence (AI): Towards a Framework to Address AI Bias aims to build a national and international research initiative focused on mitigating bias in AI systems through an interdisciplinary and equity-driven approach. Bringing together experts from computer science, health, and the social sciences, the project fosters collaboration and knowledge mobilization to ensure that AI technologies serve justice and inclusion.
Key objectives:

• Host a two-day multidisciplinary workshop on AI bias in health and social sciences.
• Develop new research opportunities focused on AI bias mitigation.
• Establish an international research collaboratory on AI and equity.
• Publish an edited volume titled Equity AI in Social Sciences and Health.
• Disseminate findings widely to academic, public, and policy audiences.
